Sunday
We went to church. Ava wore one of her new outfits we bought the night before when we went shopping.
We came home to find Miley sound asleep in her favorite spot at the bottom of our bed cuddled up around the folded laundry.
Monday-Friday
This was a pretty boring week. Karen Latimer and I had a 3 day workshop about common core reading to attend. Carol and her family were at the beach all week. Carol kept texting us pictures of the beach while we were in this workshop so we sent her a picture of us and all the fun we were having. HA!
While all the neighbors were out of town and I was at workshops, the girls went to art camp. The last day of the camp was Friday, and we got to come to an art show to see what the girls did all week.
They painted self portraits.
They took a walk to downtown Arlington and painted a building down there. Elia painted the old barn.
Ava painted the tree in the middle of the square.
Elia painted the church where the art camp was held.
They also painted a table of fruit. Here is Elia's fruit:
And Ava's fruit table:
They also painted a picture of a dog. Elia's dog:
And Ava's dog:
Their favorite project was the 3-D buildings they colored with chalk and then glued on to the black board with wood glue. Elia's was very neat and orderly.
And of course, Ava's turned out very abstract:
After the art show on Friday, we went to Michelle's to swim. The kids had a blast.
They had fun jumping off the side and into the hole of the float.
That Friday was the day our Arlington Taco Bell opened. Carol and I picked some up for dinner that night and we had a little Taco Bell picnic in the cove.
Saturday
Carol and I went and got our nails done. We got this very pretty peach color! Great summer color!
Sunday
After art camp, Ava had the "art bug" so I went to Michael's and got her some art supplies. Ava got her ipod and found a YouTube video where a guy shows you step by step how to paint a landscape.
Here is her final product:

Summer Week 6
Saturday
We slept in very late Saturday morning because we were still recovering from our trip to Guatemala. Then Carol and I went to get our mani's and pedi's at Safety Nails.
That night we went to the 1st annual Arlington fireworks show. A ton of people came out and the fireworks were awesome!
Sunday
We went to the drive-in movies!
Monday
Kevin and I decided to take the girls to the zoo. The high was only 82 and it was July 1. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. We saw the stingrays which was WAY over priced.
Then we saw the tigers, bears, and elephants.
We had to stop for an icee! YUM!
After a break, we saw the birds and the bees exhibit. Kevin was pretty excited about the bees.
Ava was pretty excited about the birds.
Kevin also enjoyed the birds.
Elia and I were kind of freaked out about the birds flying around our heads so we stuck together.
Then we went to the gift shop. What a goof ball!
Then we came home and chilled out. I think Miley missed Elia.
Tuesday
We took it easy on Tuesday. That night we shot off a few fireworks with the neighbors.
Wednesday
We saw the movie Despicable Me 2. It was a very cute movie, and the kids loved it. Then we shot off more fireworks and ate watermelon.
Thursday
We drove over to the Carters for a 4th of July cookout. We brought Miley with us and she loved going for a ride.
Friday
Carol and I were sitting outside in the cove like we do almost every day, and the girls decided they wanted to give us a foot massage for one dollar and one penny. HA! We took them up on their offer. I am not real sure why they were laying upside down but we didn't care. It was wonderful and worth that dollar and a penny!
That night we took Kevin to El Mezcal for his 41st birthday! The girls always play the crane machine and they almost always win. Not sure how they do it. I am starting to think they are sticking their arms up there and grabbing a stuffed animal.
Saturday
We celebrated my Nana's 90th birthday today. We had a party for her at her church and over 100 people showed up! She sure has a lot of friends.
Nana and the girls
LeAnne and Me
Ava and her cousins (Notice how close Ava is standing next to Zach! LOL!)
My little family!
Margaret and Bill surprised Nana by coming all the way from New York!
Nana and her brother, J.T.
The big family
Nana's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren
Nana, Pepaw, and their 8 great grandchildren (Aren't they cute?)
After the party we went to the mall to do some shopping. The girls needed some new church clothes and shoes. It was a sad moment for me because Elia now wears a size 6 shoe! She no longer wear shoes in the kid's department. I took this picture of Ava at the Gap being her usual sassy self!
Only 3 more weeks of summer left for teachers! Time to really soak it up!
