We woke up bright and early to hit Universal Studios on Tuesday morning.
We got to the gates around 8:30 and they opened at 9:00. Ava was so excited to bring her new backpack and it actually came in handy. There was a chance of rain so we put all of our ponchos in it just in case we needed them.
As soon as the gates opened we went straight to the Despicable Me ride which was so fun!
The girls love the minions.
Then we headed to ET to ride my most favorite ride ever! Ava bought an ET doll, and I got an ET keychain.
Then we went to the Sponge Bob gift shop.
Next was the Simpson ride. I don't think I have ever felt more ill on a ride in my entire life. The kids loved it of course, but I seriously thought I was going to throw up everywhere.
Next was the animal actor show. It was so cute!!
Then we headed to the Fear Factor show. They had these people outside of the show walking around while we were waiting in line. They were hilarious!
There is no way I would ever volunteer to be part of the Fear Factor show at Universal. This one poor mom volunteered and they put a box over her head and then put scorpions and spiders all over her head.
Then these poor people had to stick their hand in this eel tank and pull out these balls.
The worst was when they had 4 people come up and drink a mixture of bugs, meat parts, and spoiled milk all blended together. I thought I was going to throw up just watching them.
Ava volunteered, but thankfully she just turned a switch to make the wind blow harder on the stunt people. I was a little nervous about her being picked. However, the kid would have done anything.
After Fear Factor, it started to sprinkle. Ava was so excited to be able to put her poncho on. LOL! I think she was the only one in the entire park with a poncho on, but she was happy. She ended up with about 10 drops of water on her.
Kevin rode the Mummy ride so I waited with the girls. I ended up riding it later, and it scared me to death. Ha!
After several more rides, it was time for the parade so we found a good place to watch it.
After the parade we headed back to the condo and collapsed.
Day 6- Sea World, NBA restaurant, and Blue Man Group
As the week went on, it was getting harder and harder to wake the girls up each morning. They were exhausted!
Once we got everyone up, we went to Sea World.
We ran into the Hollands again!
First, we rode the new ride there called Antarctica.
Then we rode Atlantis.
Ava and I rode the carousel. (Elia is too cool for the carousel now.)
Kevin loved the jellyfish plants in the park.
Of course, we saw the big Shamu show which was wonderful!
Then the girls played on the biggest playground I have ever seen!
We also saw the show with the sea lions.
The last thing we did was see the dolphin show.
We sat in the "splash zone" so we were goobers and put on our ponchos.
On the way out of Sea World, it started raining buckets so it was a good thing we were done for the day and an even better thing we had ponchos with us.
After Sea World, we went to eat dinner at the NBA restaurant.
Ava played the crane machine and won! My girls are truly crane machine champions. I don't think I have ever won anything on those things.
After dinner we went to see the Blue Man group which we LOVED! I think it was our favorite thing we did the entire week.
Ava got light up drum sticks which are pretty cool!
At the end of the show, these giant balls fell from the ceiling. They would light up all different colors. There was music playing and toilet paper streamers everywhere. It was tons of fun. Even Kevin was up on his feet dancing. I tried to get a picture of it all but the lighting was pretty bad.
When the show was over, the girls got to have their picture made with one of the blue men.
Day 7- Titanic and Shopping
A tropical storm hit Orlando this day so we knew we needed to save Thursday for the Titanic museum which was inside. Ava is a huge Titanic fan and she was super excited.
The kid truly knows every trivia question you could ever ask her about the Titanic. When we entered the museum, they gave us all a card with a real person's name on it who was on the Titanic. It gave us our age, name, and class. We were that person on the Titanic. At the end of the tour, you learned your fate. The ironic thing is that the person me, Kevin, and Elia were did not survive. Ava's person was the only one who survived out of the four of us. It was neat because it put it all into perspective. They took our picture on the grand staircase.
After our tour, we hit the outlet mall and did just a little shopping. Then we went to dinner and to bed.
Day 8- Universal
We went back to Universal on our last day there. I didn't take too many pictures since we had already been there and done that.
We flew through the park that day and didn't have to wait in any lines. We got through everything by 2:00 so we went back to the condo and hit the pool one more time.
Then we went to dinner and had dessert at Krispy Kreme. It was National Donut Day after all, and we had to make sure we did our part to honor this day. The best part about our donuts were they were absolutely FREE! It was a good thing because it was the end of our vacation and we were broke!
Day 9- Drive back to Memphis
I always have a hard time at the end of a vacation. I truly feel depressed that it's all over. We had such a great time and made so many wonderful memories we will cherish forever as a family! Even though our Florida fun is over, we still have our whole summer ahead of us!! That made the 14 hour drive home a little easier to handle!
