Are You Thirsty?

Ever since Ava started kindergarten, she has to come to "Big Church" with us rather than go to the nursery. I have to be honest and say that having 2 little kids in church service can be somewhat of a challenge at times. However, it also provides plenty of laughs.

Last summer, Elia asked Jesus into her heart when we were in Guatemala. When we returned from our mission trip, Elia was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church. From that point on she began taking the Lord's Supper. (I am sure you can already see where this is going.) Well, now that Ava is in "Big Church" she wants to eat the little cracker and drink the little cup of grape juice too. She has been saying that she wants to ask Jesus into her heart and be baptized too. We are concerned she is so young and she only wants to do that so she can take the Lord's Supper with us. A friend of mine suggested we go ahead and let her do the Lord's Supper, and then we will know for sure Ava's true intentions. Well, last Sunday Pastor Richard was giving his spill about the meaning of the Lord's Supper. Then he asked the congregation "Are you thirsty?" (meaning thirsty for Christ.) All of a sudden we hear this confident little voice say "YES!". (meaning thirsty to try that cute little cup of grape juice.) My mom and I about fell out laughing.

This Sunday proved to be no less entertaining during church service. The youth department was doing a skit about Jesus following you and being with you at all times. The girl in the skit told Jesus to use her laptop and get on facebook so Jesus wouldn't follow her to a party. Ava literally busted out laughing. It was that deep belly kind of laugh. She kept saying "Jesus on facebook". The thought of Jesus on facebook made Ava absolutely hysterical. The whole row of people behind us couldn't stop laughing at Ava. Ava's laugh was the cutest thing!

To wrap up this blog post, I have to tell you that having the girls in church service is not always a disruption. We had about 10 minutes left in the sermon this morning, and I look over to see the girls packing up their coloring books and crayons. I was thinking, "Oh goodness, we still have 10 minutes left and the girls think church is over." After they packed up everything, Ava laid her sweet little head down in Elia's lap. It was the sweetest thing! It is moments like those that truly melt my heart! I LOVE THESE GIRLS!
